A WARNING TO MEXICO
EXPROPRIATIONS AND U.S. POLICY
(Received December 27, 10.45 p.m.)
NEW YORK, December 26.
Mr Elliott Roosevelt, the President’s son, in a radio address from Texas, admonished Mexico for oil and land expropriations. “It is obvious that something must be done," he said. “Mexico has acted, but the United States has not begun to act.
“Our good-neighbour policy, apparently, is not enough. Until, Mexico makes an overture for friendship, I, for one, must subscribe to the theory that actions speak louder than words.”
He gave a warning that it would be for the good of Mexico if she invited representatives from the nations affected to work out a settlement of the oil and land expropriations.
