QUALIFYING GAMES IN PAIRS COMPETITION

[THE PRESS Special Service.] TIMARU, December 27. The South Canterbury Bowling Centre Is being favoured by excellent weather for its Christmas tournament, and good progress is being made. The pairs competition was started to-day, when there were 76 entries, the greens used being Timaru, Ashbury, West End. Kia Toa, and play was finished the following had qualified;— . Four wins: Macdonald (Balmacewen), Madsen (Opawa), Dewar (Park), Ramsay (Park), H. Carlton (Fairlie), V. Sampson (West End), Kebby (Timaru). Three wins: Taylor (Kia Toa), Edyvean (Timaru), Hamlyn (Ashbury), McInnes (Temuka), Edwards (Temuka). F. B. Hawkey (Park), Greenfield (Kia Toa), Colbert (North East Valley). Hunt (Timaru), McLaren (West End). Stoddart (West End), Hart (Highfield), Effort! (Edgeware) Wallwork (Kia Toa), Lister (Kia Toa), Stewart (West End), and Reid (Kaituna).
