MANY HOLIDAY VISITORS

NO SHORTAGE OF ACCOMMODATION

SUMMER ADVERTISING CAMPAIGN

Many visitors have already come to Oaraaru for the start of the holiday season, and in the next few weeks a big influx is expected. These have been accommodated in the hotels, boardinghouses, and private homes, with many also in the motor camp, which, during the next few weeks, judging from inquiries. will cater for a large number of tourists.- Many Oamaru people, too, have left the town for the holidays and their willingness to let their houses to tenants during the few weeks that they are away, has greatly helped to solve the accommodation problem. The advertising campaign conducted in recent weeks by the Oamaru Retailers’ Committee, has directly resulted in many inquiries for accommodation during the holidays. The secretary of the committee (Mr H. Hay), in conversation with “The Press,’’ said that a good response had been received through this source. His office had answered inquiries from persons from Christchurch to Invercargill, and provided tho weather was fine present indications were that the town would receive a very large share of the year’s holiday visitors. Mr Hay added that there was no shortage, of accommodation for visitors to the town. In answer to advertisements many persons had stated their willingness to provide accommodation for paying guests; in this way any difficulties in finding accommodation were quickly solved.
