CHRISTMAS CAROLLERS

TO THE EDITOR OF THE PRESS Sir, —I wish to air a grievance against the present-day Christmas caroller. Are these enthusiasts imbued with the Christmas spirit to the expulsion of common sense and consideration? I am sure that everyone, including myself, would be pleased to contribute to the carollers if they came at a reasonable hour, but to come around flashing torches, knocking on doors, and waking children at well after midnight hardly shows the Christmas spirit of thoughtfulness for others. If this letter should chance to catch the eye of the offenders who called at our house at 20 minutes past midnight. it may, perhaps, make them realise that to wake a household at fhat hour can hardly be expected to foster a spirit of peace and goodwill.—Yours, etc., IHS December 26, 1938.
