TRACK RECORD BROKEN
E. A. M’KASKELL DOES 440 YARDS IN 30 SECONDS
Good cycling was seen at English Park Stadium on Saturday evening, at the weekly sports meeting conducted by the Canterbury Cash Cycling Club. E. A. McKaskell, the brilliant amateur sprinter, in a sensational dash, was successful in breaking the quarter-mile track record of 31 2-ssec, held by G. Giles. The new record stands at 30 seconds, and the professional sprinters will have a difficult task to reduce this time. McKaskell is to be congratulated on his splendid effort. A crowd of several hundred was m attendance, and the standard of cycling throughout the evening was unusually high. Details of the racing were;—
