THE DOMINIONS AND WAR
SIR MAURICE HANKEY'S IMPRESSIONS
OVERWHELMING SYMPATHY FOR BRITAIN
(BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRKLESS.) RUGBY, December 20. Sir Maurice Hankey, in a broadcast, referred to the loyal sentiments entertained in the Dominions towards Britain. "If I were Chief of the General Staff of a country likely to become involved in war with the United Kingdom, I would warn my Government to beware of underrating the Dominions," he declared. "I visited all four overseas Dominions, and know something of their problems and difficulties, and as a result of all this, I find it difficult to conceive circumstances in which this country is likely to become involved in a major war on an issue in which popular sentiment in the Dominions is not overwhelmingly sympathetic to our cause."
