SUPPORT FOR MAORJ FILMS
UNDERTAKING GIVEN BY ROTARY CLUB
The support of the Christchurch Rotary Club for an attempt made, partly by the use of films, to bring a closer understanding between Maori and pakeha was promised by the club yesterday. Derails of the plan were given the club yesterday by Mr Hemi Bennett, a son of the Rt. Rev. Dr. F. A. Bennett, Bishop of Aotearoa. Mr Bennett has a number of films of phases of Maori life, and he gave details of these to the gathering, asking its support when they are shown in Christchurch. On the invitation of Lady Haig. it is hoped to take the films to England, where they will be shown to raise funds for destitute children and for war widows.
