MOTOR-CYCLISTS ON PARADE

♦ TERRITORIAL UNIT CONCLUSION OF MILITARY COURSE AT BURNHAM A parade through the city was carried out yesterday by territorial motor-cyclists who have been attending a course of instruction at the District Military School at Burnham. During the course they were formed into a company in the charge of Major A. Bohgard, M.C., N.Z.S.C., who was chief instructor. The motor-cyclists had been engaged all the day in a tsctical exercise near Sheffield. Such schemes, to make for reality, are controlled by a directing staff. On this occasion the "enemy" fought very stubbornly and to avoid what might have resulted in heavy casualties to the attacking force, a wider outflanking movement had to be carried out, than was at first attempted. The attackers were successful, but the exercise riot completed as early as anticipated, thus delaying the arrival of the motorcyclist company in Christchurch, to carry out its march.
