WOMEN'S DIVISION OF FARMERS' UNION
_——4 SPRINGFIELD BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Springfield branch of the Women's Division of the Farmers' Union was held in the Springfield Hall. Miss E. Vaughan presided over a good attendance of members. Results of competitions were:— Child's garment: Mrs A. Fagan 1, Mrs Milliken and Miss M. Duncan (equal) 2. Bowl of flowering shrubs: Mrs Duncan 1, Mrs Williams 2. Sponge sandwich: Miss Vaughan l.Miss Duncan 2. Best bloom: Miss S. topple. The hostesses were Mrs Williams and Misses Vaughan and Reid.
HAREWOOD BRANCH The monthly meeting of the Harewood branch of the Women's Division of the New Zealand Farmers' Union was held in the Highsted Road Hall. Mrs Fraser: presided and was welcomed to the meeting by Mrs Orchard. Sympathy was extended to Mrs Rowberry in her illness. The branch drama club reported that a successful concert in aid of funds ,nad been held. Visitors were present from the Styx, Christchurch, and Papanui-Waimairi branches. A social hour was held, two action songs, a solo and chorus being given. Competitions resulted as follows: Antique display, Mrs Watson 1. Mrs Guy 2; single bloom. Miss Tounley and Miss Nunweek (equal) 1, Mrs Lynn 3; vase of flowers. Miss Nunweek 1, Mrs G. Moore 2. Mesdames Dixon, Jordan, and'Sisson were the hostesses.
