POWER BOARDS' DISPUTE IN CONCILIATION
. *—:— OBJECTION TO GRANTING OP EXAMINATION BONUSES (press association telegram.) . WELLINGTON. November 4. Objection to the granting of bonuses for examination successes as an award condition was made by the employe! s' assessors in the power boards' dispute in Conciliation Council this morning. They said that they were in sympathy with the idea behind the proposal, but found that employees left when they were qualified. Further, power boards were covered by a number of awards where technical qualifications were required, and the granting of bonuses to office staffs would affect these. Complete agreement was reached this morning on wages clauses to operate from October 31. Hours are to be 40 on five days, with the right to work on Saturday in essential cases.
