MALE VOICE CHOIR

The programme to be presented by the Christchurch Male Voice. Choir on Wednesday, November 9, at the Radiant Hall, is outstanding. It contains seven new numbers, as well as some which have been sung before. Amongthe new items are a Brahms Gipsy song with an elaborate pianoforte accompaniment: two Mendelssohn numbers, "Love and Wine," and a big chorus from the cantata, "Oedipus at Colonos"; a madrigal by Weelkes. "Lo country sports," and a humorous quasi-Handel piece, "Dr. Foster." In addition there is Benet's splendid madrigal, "All Creatures now are Merry-minded," and pieces by Armstrong Gibbs, Balfour. Gardiner, Elgar, and Vaughan Williams The guest soloist is Mrs Hamilton Mercer, who will sing an Elgar group and three Dvorak gipsy songs. Mr Noel Newson will play Scarlatti's "Capriccio Pastorale," arranged by Tausig. Patrons are advised to book their seats early.
