ELECTORS OF AVON LADIES AND GENTLEMEN, 1 am deeply grateful for the honour you have done me and the trust you have placed in me in electing me again as your Parliamentary Representative. For nineteen years I have had that privilege, and our association together has contributed something to the welfare of our country, its people, and the advancement of those ideals which have ever been dear to the people of Avon and myself. The opportunity you have afforded me of carrying on my work, in conjunction with the Prime Minister and my other colleagues of the Labour Party, in the endeavour to permanently banish poverty from our country and bring an enduring prosperity and happiness to the whole of our people, I will avail myself of and use faithfully to the best of my powers, as 1 have done in the past. I wish also to thank all those who have worked in Avon for our cause and for myself. Among others I include the National Executive of the Labour Party, the North Canterbury Labour • Representation Committee, the Labour Party Branches in the constituency; my devoted, hard-working committees, in Linwood, Now Brighton, Richmond, and Aranui; and especially the organiser, Mr Tom Smith. The work done, both in Avon Central and in New Brighton, was thoroughly efficient. I thank sincerely both old friends and new friends for their devotion and their hard, toil oh Election Day: also all those who loaned cars and rendered service of any kind. May the result of all our endeavours be to lift our country and its people, under the leadership of Mr Savage, to still higher levels of social justice and human welfare. Ladies and Gentlemen: I sincerely thank you. „ D. G. SULLIVANChnstchurch, October 15th. (Advt.)
