LAWN TENNIS SOUTH SCHOOL DISTRICT CLUB A decision to form a new tennis club c4o be known as the South School District Tennis Club was made at a meetRng held in the school, over which A. H. Wyatt presided. The chairman said that the need for ■uch a club in the district had been felt for a long time. Efforts had been made to interest the Timaru Borough Council in the proposal, but courts at Anzac Square would not be available till next year. The South School ExPupils’ Association had ■ approached tile school committee, and had been ■ranted the use oh the court at the •chock , Renovations had been carried out to this -court, and if the membership i warranted such a step the ExPupils? Association wds prepared to provide a second court. There was an membership of 30. The scheme, continued Mr Wyatt, IWiould not conflict with the proposal to Jconstruct courts at Anzac square. On tiie contrary, the formation of a club Would indicate to the council the need *f such courts. The . club .could be formed and use made of the school jj-uurts; Perhaps later the council could induced to erect new courts. In the of this the club could either •rausfer its activities to Anzac Square ®r play on both areas. .A motion was carried that a club •Mold be formed and the following officers were elected:—Patron, Mr J.
