♦ OFFICIA L FORECASTS (THE PRESS Special Servlce.l WELLINGTON. September 28 The weather forecast lor Canterbury and Marlborough, nsuecl at 5 p.m by the Meteorological Ouice. Welling ton, and dealing with ihe 24 hours foi lowing the time of issue, is as follows- — Winds rather variable, with south-westerlies in place- at first, but with north-westerlies generally predominating. Weather fair to cloudy for the most part, but with scattered light showers during Wednesday night. Temperatures erate. • • WEST COAST The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:— Moderate to fresh north-westerly to westerly winds. Weather cloudy to overcast, with rain at times. Average temperatures. Rather rough seas. DOMINION The forecast for the Dominion is:— Weather cloudy to overcast, and with occasional rain at many places in the western districts from Kawhia southward', and scattered showers in the eastern districts of the South Island from Canterbury southward. Elsewhere fair to fine. Temperatures moderate to mild. An anti-cyclone is now centred west of the Auckland Peninsula. A shallow depression, which is followed by one or more secondaries. Is crossing the South Island.
Winds—South-westerly at times over the southern half of the South Island, but northerlies to north-west-erlies generally predominating. Force strong at times from Taranaki and Hawke’s Bay southward, otherwise light to moderate. Seas (New Zealand waters) —Rough at times about Cook and Foveaux Straits, and rather rough on the West Coast of the South Island. Otherwise slight to moderate. Eastern Tasman Sea—Light to moderate but at times freshening winds between north-west and south west. Seas slight to moderate.

At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was cloudy and there was a strong south-westerly wind. The temperature was 50 degrees, and the barometer rearing 30.16 inches, rising.

Auckland—Fine. sunny weather. With a light southerly wind, was experienced in Auckland yesterday.' The maximum temperature was 64 degrees. The barometer was steady, with the reading at 5 p.m. 30.25 inches. Wellington—Fair to fine and mild, with a northerly wind, which gradually freshened during yesterday. The minimum temperature on Tuesday night was 43 degrees and the maximum yesterday 57.9 degrees. At 3 p.m. the temperature was 56.8 degrees and the barometer 30.077 inches
Dunedin—The sky was overcast yesterday and no sunshine was recorded. The temperature was mild, the maximum being 56 degrees, and there was little wind. The barometer rose sharply in the afternoon to 30.21 inchesOFFICIAL REPORTS
