ANNUAL HORSE PARADE
ALLANDALE CHATHAM THE CHAMPION : smaller entry but BETTER QUALITY The Diamond Jubilee Challenge Shield for the best draught stallion, three years of age or more, at the Canterbury Agricultural and Pastoral Association’s annual horse Parade held at the Show Grounds yesterday was von by Mr Andrew Grant s Allandale Chatham, for the second’ time in succession. Allandale Chatham, bred by the owner, was born in January, 1934. The sire is Desire and the dam is Craigie Ella. The judge. Mr j. hj. Mitchell, Studholme. said that there was not a great deal , between this horse and Mr G. P. Johnston s,- Dunmore Superb, which gained second place in the same class. . , ' , , There were fewer entries than last vear. but the horses were definitely of a higher standard. There were only two entries in the P® n y stallion section, and these were both m the class for stallions suitable for breeding saddle ponies. The results are as follows: Draught stallion, foaled before June 30. 1935 ( 31: Andrew Grants (Fairlie) Allandale Chatham 1 and champion: G. P. Johnston’s (Oamaru) Dunmore Superb 2. J. Nicholson’s (Hampden) Craigie Barskimming (tap.) 3. Draught stallion, foaled since June SO. 1935 (2); James Petrie’s (Swannanoa) Thornprint 1, T. S. Ferguson’s (\Vaiau) Scotland's Fame 2. Draught colt, foaled since June 30, 1936 Q): A. J. Doak’s (Ashburton) Wattle Grove Mac. Pony stallion, not more than 14.2 hands, suitable for breeding saddle ponies (2): M. E. Jenkins (Courtenay) Golden Legend I. Miss D. Hatten’s Robin, 2_
