CROSS-COUNTRY RUNNING
CHAMPIONSHIPS OF CANTERBURY
BIG FIELD TO CONTEST EVENTS TO-DAY
A field of 102 will contest the cross-, country championships of Canterbury over the Cashmere course, stating from the Old Stone. House this afternoon. Given fine weather there is a prospect of an excellent . contest for the principal places. The teams and the claimants to the individual title have seldom been more evenly matched. ' The holder of the Canterbury championship, R. F. Rogers (University) is unable to defend his title. In his absence tlie championship remains very open, with Christchurch Club and South Canterbury Sub-Centre men probably taking most of the honours. The South Canterbury SubCentre has this year entered four teams, and has every prospect of figuring prominently in all three grades.
