Play Indians and Pioneers
Happy holidays, everyone! There are many Expensive Smiles scattered through the pages of this number of "The Gay Gazette." If you find them you may wear them. There is one for each day of the week. By the way, have you ever played Ipdians and Pioneers? It .is a splendid holiday game, and you may play it every day if you wish. First, borrow a large howl from mother. The ordinary washing-up bowl will do. Pour in some boiling water. Take an Indian switch — the soap shaker Will do — and twist it round rapidly in the water, making an incantation as you do so. This would do.: . .^ Twist, twist! my Indian broom, , Pioneer coming very soon. Now borrow some cups, saucers, plates, and dishes — ones that have been used are best. Swish them round in the water, using a mop. Place them in the wigwam. A big tray will do. At this point the pioneers come along, catch the Indians, imprison them in a cloth—an ordinary tea-towel will do—and put them in the block-house. A cupboard or shelves will do for the block-house. You'll like this game. Any number of girls and boys may play, though one alone can have great fun. - : , ( «, . You'll find mother quite enthusiastic when you ask if you may play Indians and Pioneers." •■...,.. LADY GAY.
