SILKWORMS
Last year some friends gave us four silkworms. When they were given to us they were grubs about half an inch long! They had to have fresh lettuce or mulberry leaves every day. Our silkworms grew until they were a,bout an inch and a half long.
Silkworms grow mw" bigger it fed on mulberry leaves. They then spin their cocoons. The first one started spinning on Christmas Day. It takes them several days to spin cocoons. After about a month a moth comes from the cocoon. The female moth lays about three dozen eggs, the size of a pin's head, out of which the grubs hatch, The moths" only live for about three weeks.
