(political Duster: CONDUCTED BY THE CHMSTCHURCH BUSINESS GROUP OF THE NEW NATIONAL PARTY. The above Group is composed of reprecommercial, and industrial community «* Christchurch. In this Group employ have combined with employers ™. wholehearted effort to combat Stt» Socialism. A significant fact is that xne majority of members of the Business Group are employees. The individual prospers only when tbe Business Group has allied itself to tte National organisation believing that tne gravely imperilled by a carefully plannea attempt to create a Socialist State. The Prime Minister says: "I say deliberately that such prosperity wSL be held only so long as the present Government is in power to maintain it and no longer." Labour's claim to be responsible for the prosperity due to many millions extra received for exports during the last few years is as reasonable as a claim from the Labour Party that they discovered New Zealand and developed it. In 1935-36 the Consolidated Fund Revenue, plus Unemployment Tax. plus Borrowing, amounted to £33.596.000. In 1938-39 under the same headings the Government will require £58,643.000. In three years an increase of £23,000,000!! Such expenditure would hopelessly cripple New Zealand were it not for higher prices realised overseas for our exports—a favourable factor which has created prosperity in all countries with a similar export business. The Prime Minister's claim that bis Government is the Guardian of Prosperity is unjustified and absurd! Like his claim to insulate New Zealand against Depression, this claim IS just another piece of political arrogance. We must not forget, and we must not allow the Labour Government to forget, that the avowed objective of its leaders is the socialisation of the means of Production, Distribution, and Exchange. This means the gradual ■extinction of Private Enterprise and Individual Freedom. —»
