J. Young's stable has received an addition in Lee Boy, who was not seen out last season. In 1937 Lee Boy won in heavy going at Invercargill.
A Strong: Team F. J. Smith will be represented byseven horses at the Auckland trotting meeting to-day. He has none in the Introductory Handicap, nor in the second division of the Mount Eden Handicap. Crocus and Nervie's Last are in the August Handicap, and his other representatives are Cloverdale, Parauri, Swordsman. Van Derby, and. Sandusky. Parauri and Sandusky were the only ones to win last season, and the latter has already opened his account this season. Van Derby will be making his first appearance in the Dominion. At Wing-atui
Salalon, who is engaged at the Otago Hunt meeting to-day, is one of the bestbred pacers racing, but his form so far has been far below expectations. Salalon is a half-brother, by Adioo Guy, to Sure and Probationer, two mares who won their way to the best of company. On occasions Salalon has shown fair form, but he will have to improve greatly to approach the deeds of other members of his family.
A Clearing Sale at the Pegasus Riding School, 267 Racecourse road, near the New Brighton Racecourse, takes place to-day at 2 p.m. Hacks, Hunters, Trotters, Ponies, and Thoroughbreds will be submitted to Auction.' In addition, Sulkies, Show Gig, Carts, 13 bridles, 9 riding saddles, and 2 sets new sulky harness will be sold. The gear is the finest equipment ever, offered to the public. The sale will be conducted by W. E. SIMES and CO., Auctioneers.
