A Strong: Team F. J. Smith will be represented byseven horses at the Auckland trotting meeting to-day. He has none in the Introductory Handicap, nor in the second division of the Mount Eden Handicap. Crocus and Nervie's Last are in the August Handicap, and his other representatives are Cloverdale, Parauri, Swordsman. Van Derby, and. Sandusky. Parauri and Sandusky were the only ones to win last season, and the latter has already opened his account this season. Van Derby will be making his first appearance in the Dominion. At Wing-atui

Salalon, who is engaged at the Otago Hunt meeting to-day, is one of the bestbred pacers racing, but his form so far has been far below expectations. Salalon is a half-brother, by Adioo Guy, to Sure and Probationer, two mares who won their way to the best of company. On occasions Salalon has shown fair form, but he will have to improve greatly to approach the deeds of other members of his family.
