INCREASED LOCAL TURNOVER PRICES STILL FAVOUR BUYERS Turnover on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday was greater than it has .been in the last few days and covered a wider range of stocks. Prices were irregular but ' for the most part were in buyers’ favour.

DEALINGS COMPLETED

New Zealand Government. 3J per cent, stock, due September, 1939-43. changed hands at £IOO 2s 6d, and that due 1938-52. at £lOl, and the 4 per cent, stock, due 1949, at £lOl 12s 6d. Commercial Bank of Australia, ex dividend, had business at 16s Bd, market closing Id either way. The preference were firmer at £9 7s. Bank of New Zealand recovered to 435, .but closed with sellers at 42s lid. buyers at 42s lOd. New Zealand Breweries changed hands at 425, and more were wanted at. that price, sellers at 42s 2d. Sellers of Tooth’s Brewery came down to 55s Miscellaneous British Tobacco were fractionally weaker at 49s 4d Broken Hill Proprietary contributine had business at 40s 6d. market closing 3d cither way. Electrolytic Zinc, preference, cum dividend, dropped to 46s 3d. and there were further sellers at that price, buvers at 46s id. G. J. Coles moved up to 78s 9d. market closing 78s 8d buyers. 78s 9d sellers. Taranaki Oilfields were weaker with dealings at prices ranging from 12s 4d to 12s. buyers staying in at the lowest price, sellers at 12s Id. Wilcox Mofflin were easier at 6s 4d. closing quotations Id on either side. Sellers of Woolworths. Ltd., reduced their limits to 20s lOd. Mining Grey River were weaker, with sellers and business at 14s. Mount Morgans moved up to 10s 9d and 10s lOd, market closing at 10s 9*d buyers. 10s lOld sellers.
