EXTENSIONS OR REPAIRS REQUIRED SIMILAR PROBLEMS AT KENNEDY»S BUSH "The opening of the new Summit road scenic highway has seen an increase in the popularity of the Sign of the Kiwi, and the time is rapidly approaching when the extension of the building will have to be considered, says the annual report of the Port Hills-Akaroa Summit Road Public Trust, which will be presented to subscribers this evening. "Even if extensions are not made, considerable repairs must be undertaken afan early date," the report says. "This property is now occupied by Mr and Mrs J. A. Harris, who under somewhat adverse conditions are catering, adequately for the travelling public. Their enthusiasm is shown by the fact thai they are carrying out certain repairs to the building at their own expense. "The thanks of the public are due to the Heathcote County Council for the very great improvement in the parking facilities at this popular stopping Repairs are also reported to be necessary to the Sign of the Bellbird at Kennedy's Bush, which is being conducted by Mr and Mrs J. Gilby. . The trust has not found it possible to obtain the services of anyone tc occupy the Sign of the Packhorse which is being kept open for the benefit of trampers and others. The trustees are taking in hand the provision of a path for walkers along the new Summit road.
