The Hon. Mr Justice O'Regan, Mr W. Cecil Prime, and Mr A. L. Montezih, members of the Arbitration Court, left Christchurch for Wellington last evening.

The Hon. W. Hayward, M.L.C., returned to Christchurch from the north by the steamer express yesterday morning.

Mr H. E. Herring, M.P., arrived by the steamer express from the north yesterday morning.

Mr P. Harvey, secretary of the South Island Motor Union, left by the steamer express last evening for Wellington to attend a meeting of secretaries of automobile associations throughout New Zealand.

Mr P. R. Godby left Christchurch last evening on the first stage of a trip to England. Professor Jagan Nath and members of the Prince of Manavadar's Indian hockey team arrived in Christchurch from the south last evening for the first test match between New Zealand and the Indian team, which will be played here to-morrow. The Rev. W. F. Stent has been appointed a Government representative on the New Zealand Poultry Board, according to a notice in the Gazette.

A conference of the three District Traffic Managers of Railways in the South Island was held yesterday in Christchurch. The conference was attended by Mr E. S. Brittenden, Christchurch, Mr A. Clark, Dunedin, and Mr W. Rodgers, who was recently appointed district manager at Invercargill. .

Marshal of the Royal Air Force Sir Edward Ellington arrived in ,Wellington.by the Awatea yesterday and was met by Group Captain the Hon. R. A. Cochrane, Chief of the Air Staff of the Royal New. Zealand Air Force, Group Captain L. M. Isitt, Air Board Member for Personnel, and Captain R. Stuart French, representing the Governor-General. Sir Edward Ellington recently compiled a report for the Commonwealth Government on the development of Australia's Air Force, and is on his way to Canada to join a special British mission which is going to Canada to encourage the manufacture there of bombers for the Royal Air Force. While in Wellington he will be the guest of the Gov-ernor-General (Lord Galway) at Government House.—Press Association.
