». OKAIN'S BAY The monthly meeting of the Okain's Bay Women's Institute was held recently. Mrs Boleyn (vice-president) presided. A demonstration on making pineneedle baskets was given by Mrs A. Ware. Miss Mary Moore made a patchwork quilt, which members decided to send to the Nurse Maude Association. Mrs J. Boleyn gave a talk on her tour of North Auckland. A vote of sympathy was passed with Mr H. Mander in his recent bereavement. A demonstration on marquetry was given by Miss Schwebe. Competitions resulted:—Apron: Mesdames Maxwell and Stack (equal) 1. TEMPLETON At the monthly meeting of members of the Templeton Women's Institute Mrs Curragh presided over a good attendance. The roll call was "A game suitable for meetings." An invitation from the Springston branch to attend its birthday party was accepted. A vote of thanks was passed to the secretary (Mrs Taylor) for her gift of a jug to the institute. CHORLTON-LITTLE AKALOA BRANCH The fourth birthday party of the Chorlton-Little Akaloa branch of the Women's Division of the New Zealand Farmers' Union was held recently. A long programme of items was given. The hall was decorated with greenery and streamers in the colours of tne branch's emblem flower, the Iceland poppy. The stage was furnished as a drawing-room with silken hwgingii. Bouquets.were made by. Mrs Waghorn and presented to the president (Mrs R. M- Craw) to the secretary (Mrs R. C. Waghorn) and the producer. Mrs Crow. The candles of the cake were lit by the four oldest members. Mesdames W. Craw, J. Marshall, L. Waghorn and R. E. Waghorn and were blown out by the immediate past president (Mrs D. Waghorn). Mr R. E. Waghorn was master of ceremonies and was assisted by Mr Robin Craw. Music was played by Mrs 1 Pawson (piano).
