Evidence that the Government's proposals for the reorganisation of local bodies in New Zealand are not to be allowed \o lapse, is provided by the setting up of a Committee in the House of Representatives to-day to "consider the scheme of local government amalgamation outlined in the Local Government (Amalgamation Schemes) Bill, and to report generally on the provisions of the bill." The members of the Committee are the Minister for Internal Affairs (the Hon. W. E. Parry). Mr W. L. Anderton (Government. Eden), Mr Speaker (the Hon. W. E. Barnard), the Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates (National, Kaipara). and Messrs D. W. Coleman (Government, Gisborne). H. G. Dickie (National, Patea), J. Hargest (National, Awarua). H. S. S. Kyle (National, Riccarton), J. W. Munro (Government. Dunedin North). J. O'Brien (Government, Westland), J. Robertson (Government, Masterton), H. M. Rushworth (Independent Bay of Islands). J. Thorn (Government Thames), and C. Morgan Williams (Government, Kaiapoi).
