AN ELECTION ISSUE
TO THE EDITOR 01* THE PRESS. Sir,— Many electors will view with some concern the ill-conceived tactics of the National Party in making the chief Issue for the forthcoming election socialisation versus private enterprise. There are thousands of people who will vote Labour who do not wish to have State ownership of the means of production and distribution. These people are not Socialists at all. They think, and with good reason, that the Labour Party is just the old Liberal Party under a different' name; but if. Labour is returned to office on the above issue the Labour Party will undoubtedly claim that the people have given them a mandate to socialise the country.—Yours, etc., ECONOMIC DEMOCRACY. July 19. 1938.
