SECOND COURT OF ARBITRATION

1 LIST OF FIXTURES IN CITY CHRISTCHURCH SITTING OPENED The Second Court of Arbitration began a sitting in Christchurch yesterday. The Court had before it a long list of cases for hearing, and spent the morning making a series of fixtures, and further fixtures will be made on September 5. His Honour Mr Justice Hunter presides over the Court and with him arc Mr A. W. Croskery (employees* representative) and Mr V. Duff (employers' representative). His Honour said that the Court had brought a number of important matters with it from Wellington and desired to have the next three weeks reasonably clear. Fixtures were arranged as follows: Compensation Cases August 2 (morning): Frank Lewis v. New Zealand Refrigerating Company, Ltd. _ . „. August 15: J. M. Scott v. Booth, Macdonald and Company, Ltd. Industrial Disputes August 2 (afternoon): North Canterbury male hairdressers' assistants' dispute. ....... * « August 16 (four days' sitting): Dominion general drivers' dispute. August 23 and 24: Local body drivers' dispute. August 30: Christchurch dairy employees' dispute. August 31 to September 9: Canterbury, Westland. Marlborough, and Nelson electrical workers* dispute; Northern, Wellington, Taranaki, Canterbury, and Otago and Southland tinsmiths' and sheet metal workers' dispute; Dominion motor mechanics (application to amend Conciliation Council recommendations); Northern, Taranaki, Wellington, Canterbury, and Otago and Southland general engineers' dispute; Northern, Wellington, and Canterbury employers' comprehensive metal trades dispute; Alloy Steel, New Zealand, Ltd., application to extend hours; Dominion cycle makers award, application to add parties; Canterbury, Westland, Nelson, and Marlborough electrical workers, application for partial exemption of parties; Canterbury motor engineering trade apprenticeship order, application for amendment; Canterbury tinsmiths and sheet metal trades apprenticeship order, application for amendment; Canterbury electrical trade apprenticeship order, application for amendment; engineers' award, application for amendment. . ~ ± September 13:' Canterbury maltsters, brewers', and drivers' dispute.
