ITALIAN TROOPS IN SPAIN
Franco Willing For Withdrawal
DUCE IN ANGRY c MOOD Pact With Britain May Collapse [UNITED PRESS ASSOCIATION—COPYRIGHT.) (Received July 5. 10 p.m.) LONDON. July 5. The Associated Press learns that Count Ciano’s talk with the British Ambassador, the Earl of Perth, last night disclosed that II Duce is again in an angry mood, this time because Mr Chamberlain will not modify his March pledge that the British-Italian agreement will not be implemented until the Italians withdraw from Spain. Accordingly British official quarters are perturbed lest the agreement may lapse. According to information from Burgos, General Franco is prepared unconditionally to accept the British plan for the withdrawal of volunteers from Spain as soon as it is presented to him.
Simultaneously, if is officially stated from Saragossa that all Italian “Black Arrow” brigades are being withdrawn to behind the fighting line. There are now no foreign troops in General Franco’s front-line forces.
