YORKSHIRE MAKES 188 FOR EIGHT
AUSTRALIAN BOWLERS’ SUCCESS SIX WICKETS NOW TAKEN BY WAITE (Received July 5, 1.15 a.m.) LONDON, July 4. Further rain on Sunday kept the wicket soft for the match between the Australians and Yorkshire,'but the absence of strong sun left conditions no more difficult than on Saturday. Waite, who reopened the Australian bowling, had Smailes in trouble from the outset. White, at the opposite end, had Smailes easily caught at mid-off without adding to his score. Sutcliffe’s fondness for the hook led to his downfall. He lifted a ball from Waite a trifle short, and Fingleton took a well-judged catch at long leg. The next wicket was Turner’s. He was well bowled by White, his 34 including six fours and five twos.
