o OFFICERS AUTHORISED. TO CALL TENDERS Revised plans and specifications lor the Lyttelton Harbour Board’s proposed new lug have been received by the board from E. H. Mitchell and Company, Ltd., naval architects and engineers, Newcastlc-on-Tyne. The board, at its meeting yesterday, authorised the chairman (Mr R. T. McMillan) and the board’s officers to examine the plans and specifications and to call for tenders for the construction of the tug if these proved satisfactory.

The new tug will be a twin-screw vessel of 1250 horse-power. It will have a length of 114 feet, a moulded breadth of 29 feet, and a moulded depth of 14 feet. There will be a hold amidships for storing towing gear and other equipment, and an interesting part of the equipment will be a bear-ing-line gun. The crew space will be forward and the messroom and officers’ accommodation aft.
