RISING TENDENCY IN ALL SHARES

The investment market in Sydney was unusually bright yesterday, with an all-round rising tendency. Barrier shares were much firmer on keen buying, and banks were more active than for weeks. In Melbourne, barriers opened strongly, but profit-taking brought an easier closing tone. Industrials showed little change. Metals shares rose on the Christchurch Exchange. The engineering firm of A. and T. Burt, Ltd., report a profit for the year of £44,969, against £38,595 last year. The year’s operations have turned a debit balance of £1969 into a credit balance of £42,999, subject to payment of income tax.
