♦ EIGHT INJURED WHEN LORRY CAPSIZES
FOUR POSTAL EMPLOYEES SENT TO HOSPITAL

DANNEVIRKE, July 1.
A Post and Telegraph lorry carrying a gang of linesmen capsized on the main road south of Dannevirke last evening when passing another vehicle going in the same direction towards town. The eight occupants were thrown out, four of whom were subsequently admitted to the Public Hospital suffering minor wounds, abrasions, and shock.
They were: D, W. Scully, Walter Leach, J. W. Duffy, P. J. Rossiter, S. E. Scott, who was in charge of the gang, received medical attention at his home. None of the men is seriously injured.
FATAL INJURIES JOCKEY STRUCK BY MOTOR-CAR (PBESS ASSOCIATION TELEGRAM.) NEW PLYMOUTH, July 1. Fatal injuries were suffered by Lawrence William Pepperill, aged 18, a jockey, when he was struck by a car driven by Thomas E. Roberts, of Patea, a solicitor, near Hawera tonight. Pepperill was taken to the Hawera Hospital with a fracture of the base of the skull, and died about an hour later.
PLUMBER INJURED IN FALL
Injuries to his left arm and body were suffered by a plumber, James Lawrence Talbot, of 45 Disraeli street, Addington, in a fall yesterday. Talbot, who was working at a house at 26 Aldwin’s road, fell from a height and was taken to the Christchurch Public Hospital by the St, John ambulance. He was treated as an out-patient at the hospital.
