TOY DOG AND CAT CLUB

SIXTEENTH ANNUAL SHOW HELD GOOD ENTRIES IN ALL SECTIONS Entries in the Christchurch Toy Dog and Cat Club’s annual show, which was opened yesterday, were larger, particularly in the dog sections, than they have been for some years. Mrs W. M. Angus’s Pekingese dog, Yao Choo of Alderbourne, was awarded the Smith Challenge Cup for the best dog or bitch in the show. This dog has been, exhibited in shows all over the Dominion and so far has never been beaten.

The exhibitor to gain most points in the show was Mrs C. L. Ridgen with 59, Mrs A. J. Smith being runner-up with 43. Mrs Ridgen’s Chu Li of Montresor, a Pekingese bitch, gained most points in the show. A pleasing part of the show was the children’s art and needlework section. Most of the entries in this section were received from children attending the North Linwood primary school, which won the School Challenge Shield, presented by Mrs A. J. Smith, for points gained in all children’s sections, for the third time in succession. The cookery section, although not quite so large as last year’s, was of a high quality, all the exhibits showing careful preparation. The cat section will be judged today. The judges are: Dogs, Mr G. A. Taylor; cats, Mrs Talbot; cookery, Mr Hawker; art needlework, Mrs A. Burt, Results are as follows: — SPECIAL.
