OBITUARY
REV. FATHER HENRY, S.M.
After a short illness the death occurred yesterday of the Rev. Father Henry, S.M., at the age of 56. Father Henry, who was bom at Cherbourg in Normandy,, France, had been in New Zealand since 1905, and was curate and parish priest in various parishes under the control of the Society of Mary in New Zealand. His correct name was Henri le Boutellier, and for convenience he adopted his first name as a surname in New Zealand, As, a young man he worked for a time in London, and began his preliminary studies for the priesthood in France. He completed them on coming to New Zealand at the Marist Seminary, Meanee, Hawke’s Bay. After his ordination in_ 1906 he was at Blenheim for 20 years, and since then has been at Waimate, Reefton, Otaki, and Temuka. He had been an inmate of the Little Company of Mary (Lewisham) Hospital for two weeks. Pontifical Requiem Mass was celebrated at St. Mary’s Church, Manchester street north, yesterday morning by Bishop Brodie. The Very Rev, Dr. V. Geaney, S.M., was deacon of the Mass, and the Rev. Father D. Maher, SM., sub-deacon. The Very Rev. Dr. J. Kennedy (Beckenham) was assistantpriest. There was a large attendance of clergy from the city and suburbs at the Mass, as well as laity and children from the city Catholic schools. The funeral and interment will take place at Blenheim on Sunday.

The death occurred at Pahiatua yesterday of Dr. Henry Thomas, Dawson, until recently medical superintendent of the Pahiatua Public Hospital, at the age of 70 years. Dr. Dawson had been practising at Pahiatua for 40 years, and was recognised by the medical profession, as a fine surgeon. He sacrificed a brilliant career by remaining in a country practice.
