PUBLIC NOTICE is hereby given that it is the intention of the Selwyn County Council at a special meeting, to be held at 2 p.m. on the 4th day of JULY. 1938, at the Council Chambers, at Hororata, under the provisions of the Counties Act, 1920, the Rating Act, 1925, the Water Supply Act, 1908, the Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act, 1926, and the Electric Power Boards Act, 1925; and all amendments to the said acts, to make and levy the following rates and water charges;— A—RATES UNDER THE RATING ACT, Sections 51 to 55 and others: 1. Under section 120 of the Counties Act, 1920, a GENERAL RATE of 9-1 fid in the £ upon the capital rateable value of all rateable property in the County of Solvvyn. 2. Under section 52 of the Hospitals and Charitable Institutions Act. 1926. a separate HOSPITAL RATE of 21-64 d iji tho £ upon the cnoital rateable value of all rateable ; property in tho County of Sclwyn. 9. Under section 125 of the Counties Act. 1920, a SPECIAL WORKS RATE of .'.d In the £ upon the capital rateable value of all rateable property in the special area described in the minutes of the Council, dated October 2, 1922. 4. Under sections 61 and 56 of the Electric Power Boards Act. 1925, and by direction of the Malvern Electric Power Board the | BOARD'S SEPARATE RATE of i 7-32 d in the £ upon the capital rateable value of all rateable property within the Selwyn constituent district. 5. Under section 21 of the Local Bodies Loans Act, 1926, a SPECIAL RATE of l-20d in the £ upon the capital rateable value of all rateable property within the Dunsandel Hall and Library special rating area, as described in section 8 of the Local Legislation Act, 1927. B—WATER CHARGES UNDER THE WATER SUPPLY ACT, 1908, section 38: 6. In compliance with a special order passed by the Council on August 11, 1930, Water Charges in the Downs Road Water Supply District as set out in the Water Supply By-law, 1930. 7. In compliance with a special order passed, by the Council on September 3, 1984, Water Charges in the Hororata Water-race District, as set out in the Water Supply Bylaw, 1934. 8. In compliance with a special order passed by the Council on November 2, 1936, Water Charges at the rate of £3 per 100 acres watered in the' Snowdon Water-race District, as set out in the Water Supply By-law. 1936, No. 2. The above rates arid charges are for the period of one year commencing oh tho Ist day of April 1938, and ending on the 31st day Of March, 1939, and shall become due and payable in one sum on the 23rd day of July, 1938, at the Council Office at Hororata, where tire ra'v books and valuation rolls are now open for inspection.
