WORK ON RECREATION GROUND Advice has been received by the Mayor (Mr F. £. Sutton) that the Unemployment Department has authorised the employment of six relief workers for the laying of spoil on the recreation ground at Naval Point. Work will begin on Monday on a. quantity of spoil in stack near the ground, find later spoil will be available from the widening and straightening of the main highway from Rapaki to Corsair Bay. which is being undertaken by the Public Works Department. South Sea for Chatham Islands Convoying the fishing launch Rosa Marie, the big steam trawler South Sea sailed from Lyttelton yesterday afternoon for the • Chatham Islands. The launch will be taken in tow, as the weather permits, but will sail under her own power in rough weather. It is expected that the voyage will take three days.
