RETIRED FARMER FOUND DEAD
* VERDICT OF SUICIDE WHILE DEPRESSED INQUEST AT HALSWELL Thomas Going, a retired farmer, aged 76, who resided at Winter’s road, Halswell, was found dead in a loft in stable buildings there with chest injuries about 12.30 yesterday. There was a shotgun near the body. A verdict’that Going died from gunshot wounds self-inflicted while in a depressed state of mind following illhealth. was returned by the Coroner (Mr H. A. Young) at the inquest at Halswell jesterday afternoon. Evidence that Going had not been in good health was given by his son-in-law, Frederick Meyerhoff, with whom Going, who was a widower, had lived. It v-as stated that the body was found after the sound of a gunshot had been heard. Constable B. A. Dunn (Lincoln) also gave evidence.
