EMPIRE FLYING-BOAT CRASH
♦ ACCIDENT ATTRIBUTED TO PILOT’S ERROR GREEK GOVERNMENT REPORTS ON LOSS OF COURTIER LONDON, June 14. “The accident must be attributed to an error of the pilot,” states the Greek Government’s report to the Air Ministry on the crash of the Empire flying-boat Courtier at Athens o.i October 1 last. The pilot, it was stated, descended without, according to custom, previously turning above the alighting place for the purpose of observation. . The Courtier, which was flying to England from Alexandria, with nine passengers on board, made a faulty landing in a fog at Athens. An Englishman, Wing Commander D. Acland, an American, Mr Roy Henderson, and a Greek, Alexander Eleftarakis. were killed.
