OFFICIAL FORECASTS (ZBB PRESS Special Service.] WELLINGTON, May 30, The weatiier forecast for Canterbury and Marlborough issued at 5 pin. by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, and dealing with the 24 hours following the time of Issue, is as follows: Winds variable, with south-west to north-west predominating, force mainly light to moderate, hut freshening at times. Weather for the most part fair and mild, bat occasional scattered and chiefly light rain probable. Seas alight to moderate. WEST COAST ' . The forecast for the West Coast of the South Island is:—■ Light to moderate hut occasionally freshening south-west to north-west winds. Weather changeable, with intermittent rain. Temperatures moderate. Seas moderate to rather rough at times. DOMINION The Dominion forecast is:— Weather changeable and with occasional rain in most districts; but for the most part only light and scattered east of the main range. Temperatures moderate to mild. Pressure is rather low over the whole Tasman and New Zealand area owing to the passage of a series of rather shallow westerly depressions. Winds—North-westerlies predominating in eastern districts, and elsewhere north-west to south-west; force mainly light to fresh, but increasing at times about and south of Cook Strait, Seas (New Zealand waters—Rather rough to rough in the Cook and Foveaux Strait areas, elsewhere slight to moderate, but occasionally rising somewhat on the West Coast. Eastern Tasman Sea —Notth-west to south-west winds, ‘ light to moderate mainly, with slight to moderate seas, but strong at times In the southern portion with rough seas. CHRISTCHURCH WEATHER The weather in Christchurch yesterday morning was overcast and cold. There was a very light westerly wind. The sun shone brightly during the afternoon, when a light south-westerly wind blew. The maximum temperature was 58.6 degrees. At 1 o’clock this morning the sky was clear and a moderate north-east breeze was blowing. The temperature was 44 degrees. The barometer was steady at 29.80 Inches. IN OTHER PLACES Auckland —Light rain fell during the day, the wind being light and variable. The maximum temperature was 64“ degrees. The barometer fell slightly, the reading at 5 p.m. being 29.70 inches. Wellington—The weather yesterday was cloudy to overcast, but otherwise fine and mild, with a light northwesterly breeze. The minimum temperature during Sunday night was 54.1 degrees, and the maximum was 58.7 degrees. At 3 p.m. the barometer read 29.684 inches. Dunedin —The weather yesterday was cold but fine, with a light breeze from the south, which fell away towards evening. The maximum temperature was 62 degrees, and the barometer rose to 29.75 inches.
