DAMAGED BRITISH DESTROYER

MISHAP • DURING TORPEDO PRACTICE (BRITISH OFFICIAL WIRELESS.) RUGBY, May 27. The destroyer Amazon which, it is officially announced to-day, was holed by a torpedo during exercises of Portland during the week, returned to Portsr under her own steam and was docked for examination. It is understood that the damage is not serious, but the destroyer’s plates were pierced just below the waterline. The impact opened an oil tank, and a considerable quantity of oil was wasted. * ,• The accident.occurred during torpedo practice. No one was hurt.
