AUCKLAND, May 25,

No reply to the statement issued by the Minister for Defence, (the Hon. F. Jones) was made to-day by either Colonel C. R. Spragg or Colonel N. L. Macky, two officers who were, among the foursenior officers responsible for the recent manifesto on the state of the territorial force.

Colonel Spragg and Colonel Macky said that the officers concerned had issued, their manifesto with a full sense of responsibility and had nothing further to add.
