WITH LABOUR
FEDERATION PROPOSED
A ntotion “That the union affiliates Wth the New Zealand Federation- was ruled out of order af a special meeting of the Canterbury Clerks’, Cashiers’ and oS Union in the Trades Hall last night.
The grounds' for the rejection of the motion were that one published notice did not state the nature of the business for the special meeting and that the advertisement which appeared in “The Press’” on Monday morning was unsigned N and did not give the requisite three days’ notice of the meeting. Between 300 and 400 members attended the meeting, which was preceded by. the annual meeting. Mr H.'W. Friedman presided. Three nominations were made for the presidency of the union and the ballot resulted in the election of Mr G. Gillespie.'Mr L. K. Jones was elected vice-president. Thirteen nominations were received for the five seats on the executive. The election was deferred, on the requisition of 10 members, till a postal ballot was taken.
