MEMORIAL TABLET UNVEILED

PRESBYTERIAN CONGREGATION AT MAIREHAU

In the Mairehau Hall a brass memorial tablet to Mrs J, R. Walter, who died in September last, was unveiled and dedicated. An impressive service was conducted by the Rev. A. Simmonds, who, in his address, paid a tribute to Mrs Walter’s untiring zeal and devoted service to all the good causes of the district, especially in the interests of the Presbyterian Church. The hymns sung were all favourites of Mrs Walter, and Mrs Stallard sang “There is No Death.” The tablet was unveiled by Miss Eileen Beck, who, as Sunday school scholar and teacher, was associated with Mrs Walter for about 18 years. The tablet was handed over to the care of the congregation by Mrs W. J. Walter (president of the Ladies’ Guild), the organisation responsible for placing it in the hall. Mr Simmorids offered the prayer of dedication.
