WOOL FIRM IN SYDNEY METALS SHARES DRIFT The Sydney series of wool sales has been ' resumed, with sompetition keen, especially in well-grown lots, and prices fully firm on closing rates. The Continent and Japan have been the chief operators, with Yorkshire in to a'small extent. Sales have in the interim been held in Brisbane, where the market was also firm. A good volume of diversified business was done on the Christchurch Stock Exchange yesterday, mainly in industrials; Prices were erratic except among base metals shares, which drifted further. The Australian . Exchanges were cautious pending further overseas news, and metals shares were weaker. The New Zealand Breweries announcement of a 4J per cent, final dividend has been something of a disappointment to the market, which finished low er than for some days.
