The chief feature of the local body elections in Marlborough were drastic changes in the Blenheim Borough Council, in which only three out of six candidates of the old council were returned.

LABOUR SUCCESSES IN GISBORNE
i j MAJORITY ON BOROUGH COUNCIL (rasas association tei.ruham.) GISBORNE. May 12. Labour candidates met with considerable success in the Gisborne borough elections. On the Borough Council the Labour representation increased from one to four out of nine seats, the Labour Mayor arid another Independent Labour man assuring the party of a majority. Labour secured three out of the five borough seats on the Cook Hospital Board, one of five on the Power Board, but is not represented on the Harbour Board.
