♦ • PRIME MINISTER TO HAVE £4OOO A YEAR PRE-DEPRESSION RATE FOR MEMBERS OF PARLIAMENT CANBERRA, May 12. A bill to increase the salaries of members of Parliament and Ministers and to provide a special allowance for the Prime Minister (Mr J. A. Lyons) was passed by the House of Representatives. The effect will be to restore members’ salaries to the pre-depression rate of £IOOO a year, raise the Prime Minister’s allowance to approximately £4OOO a year, and increase the allowances to Mr Speaker and the President of the Senate from £1942 to £2300.
