MR HAMILTON’S SPEECH
•O THE EDITOR OP THE PEB»°Sir —As one of the electors who listened to Mr Hamilton’s speech, and in answer to your correspondent “Commonsense” in your issue of May 12, about the lady who came across a grocer's old receipt for 11s 6d, and said that similar goods at present cost 15s, Mr Hamilton omitted to tell us the past salary and hours and the present. • ,*• From my own with Mr Hamilton’s policy I can see Fridays at the ration counter for thousands, not hundreds. In the past my husband worked 80 hours for £3, and was lucky compared with some, but with Labour in power, what a change? He works 40 hours for £5. No, I don’t think Mr Hamilton Is going to hoodwink us mothers by quoting these statements. Thanking you sincerely and trusting you can spare a corner for facts. — Yours, etc.. _ DACRE STREET. May 12, 1938.
