HOUSES INSPECTED AT RANGIORA
FUST IX REINFORCED CONCRETE Mr J. A. Lee, MJ, Ptaltomenton; Under-Secretary m charge of State Housing, visited Rangiora on Tuesday with Mr A. Tyndall (Director of Housing Construction), Mr H. Temm vate secretary), and Mr C. Morgan Williams. MP, and Mr Drumman, overseer for North Canterbury The houses at Rangiora. which were the first block of State houses in New Zealand to be built in reinforced concrete. had particular interest for Messrs Lee and Tyndall, who, after a thorough Inspection, expressed entire satisfaction with the qua y and progress of the work. . , Mr Lee said tor. .ae hou 1 "' appeared to be "a 200-year job." and he congratulated the contractors on thenwork. He also said that if possible he would open the first house. Mr Lee and party afterwards met the Mayor (Mr C. W. Tyler) and councillors at the Borough Council Chambers, Mr Lee t requested that applications should be sent in as soon as possible so the department might know how many more State houses to build at Rangiora. , . It is believed that the purchase of other blocks of land for this purpose is being considered at present.
