GIRL SERIOUSLY INJURED

MOTOR-CYCLES INVOLVED IN COLLISIONS

Motor-cyclists were involved in two road accidents, in one of which a girl suffered serious injury, in the Christchurch district early yesterday morning. Margaret Erickson, aged about 14, of Johns road, Belfast, suffered concussion and abrasions to both legs in a collision between the bicycle she was riding and a motor-cydle on the Main North road shortly after midnight. The accident occurred about a quarter of a mile south of the Styx overhead bridge. She was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital. Late last evening she was on the seriously ill list.

Edward Walker, aged 25, of Swannanoa, suffered head injuries and a fracture of the right thigh when the motor-cycle he was riding collided with a motor-car at the intersection of Armagh street and Rolleston avenue at midnight. Walker was admitted to hospital and his condition last night was satisfactory. A pillion passenger on his motor-cycle, Ernest Osborn, suffered a sprained wrist, and was treated as an outpatient and discharged. Several other persons who suffered minor injuries in road accidents were treated as outpatients at the hospital in the week-end.

YOUNG BOY SCALDED

A young boy, David George Weir, of 591 Barbadoes street, suffered scalds on both arms late yesterday afternoon when he upset a pot of boiling water on himself at his home. He was admitted to hospital and his condition is satisfactory.

INJURY TO HAND

Joan Oflwood, aged about 17, of 7 Battersea street, Sydenham, suffered severe injuries to the fingers of her left hand when she cut it with an axe while chopping wood at her home about 5 o’clock yesterday afternoon. She was admitted to the Christchurch Public Hospital and her condition is satisfactory.

CYCLIST SERIOUSLY INJURED IN COLLISION WITH CAR

(PRESS ASSOCIATION TELBQRAM.) GISBORNE, May 1. A cyclist, Ronald Skilton, married, aged 27, was knocked down and seriously injured when he collided with a car driver by John Malcolm Kay. at 6 o’clock last night, in Stout street.
