ELABORATE PRECAUTIONS FOR SAFETY

SPECIAL BODYGUARD SENT FROM BERLIN

I LONDON. April 28. Herr Hitler will leave Berlin for Rome on May 2. He will be accompanied by Herr von Ribbentrop. Herr Rudolf Hess, Dr. Goebbels, Dr> Franck. General Keitel, Herr Himmler, Dr. Dietrich, and numerous high naval and military officials. Herr Hitler will be the guest of the King of Italy for a few days. Seven hundred men of the Secret Police have gone to Italy to guard Herr Hitler during his visit, in addition to two companies of Herr Hitler's bodyguard. The Rome correspondent or the "Daily Telegraph" states that as chief of the Italian Public Security Department, Senator Bocchini is not taking chances on Herr Hitlers safety in Rome. Many Jewish and other refugees who have m Italy since 1935 have been told that it would be wise for them to keep clear of Rome, Naples, and Florence until Herr Hitler has gone. Those who would not, or could not. take the hint are being placed under "precautionary arrest. A system of passport control is being introduced on the roads to Rome. Cars are halted outside the city and the passports examined. Landlords and householders are being warned that they will be responsible for the good behaviour of their tenants. Flower pots must be removed from balconies and windows because they might fall on Herr Hitler's head: . A Royal Decree proclaims a national holiday in Italy in honour of Her Hitler's arrival.

The Berlin correspondent of the "Daily Telegraph" states that Monsignor SprolL aged 68, the Bishop of Rottenburg and Wurtemberg has been "recommended Dy the Secret Police to leave town, at least temporarily, because he failed to vote at the Reichstag elections on the ground that he could not conscientiously vote for a Reichstag which included enemies of the Church.
